Armax Vols. I–VI (Remastered Edition)
The 'original' run of Armax: The Journal of Contemporary Arms comprised nine issues spread across six volumes, published from 1987 to 1996. These first six volumes contained a lot of important original research, but, unfortunately, these original issues are hard to find today—and often expensive. This remastered edition reproduces all of the fascinating articles of these original issues, updated with new, full-colour photography and presented in a contemporary style to match the current issues of Armax. All nine issues will be collected in a handsome, full-color slipcase featuring iconic western art from the Cody Firearms Museum and gold foil detail. A series of prefatory and editorial notes from Armax Editor N.R. Jenzen-Jones and the Curator of the Cody Firearms Museum, Danny Michael, provide important historical context throughout. This is the original Armax as it was always meant to be experienced.
Format: 6 × 9 inches, softcover (9 issues in slipcase)
Armax: The Journal of Contemporary Arms is a multidisciplinary academic journal publishing research from scholars around the world, and serves as the peak international publication promoting the scholarship of contemporary arms.
In addition to full-length research articles and shorter research notes, Armax publishes book reviews, conference reports, obituaries, and other material relevant to the contemporary arms studies community. Armax is published by Helios House Press on behalf of the Cody Firearms Museum, with two issues annually. All research submissions are double-blind peer reviewed.
Issue Contents:
Nine remastered issues of Armax (Vols. I through VI).
The remastered Armax collection comes housed in a stunning full-color slipcase featuring John Clymer’s dramatic painting, The Gold Train—a sweeping visual story of the American West that captures the peril, ambition, and rugged determination of the Gold Rush era. On display at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, Clymer’s masterwork shows a lone prospector leading a pack train over Colorado’s Mosquito Pass, Henry rifle in hand. The painting was commissioned by Winchester for the Buffalo Bill Memorial Association, which became the Buffalo Bill Center of the West—today home to the Cody Firearms Museum. With gold foil accents and museum-quality artwork drawn from the CFM collection, this slipcase transforms the original Armax volumes into a collectible worthy of display.
All back issues are available to retail customers exclusively through Headstamp Publishing.
